Abstract
The authors address the main issues related to the UPT supplementary services and to the problems related to their management from a network point of view, taking into account the scenario arising from the European standardization activities in this field. The main principles addressed are related to the difference between line (or terminal) based supplementary services and UPT supplementary services seen as centralized features supplied in a centralized way (e.g. via intelligent network techniques)
