  • Abstract
In a multiphase drive system fed by a VSI, very large harmonic currents can be observed if conventional SVPWM is used due to the small impedance in some subspaces such as z1-z2 subspace. Since an n-phase VSI has 2n voltage vectors, there is a lot of choice to construct a resultant voltage vector, which not only supplies the required voltage on d-q subspace but also makes the projected voltage on other subspaces to be zero. Based on this idea, two novel multiphase SVPWM strategies are presented in this paper. A five-phase PMSM drive system is used to explain these schemes. Simulations verify the validity of them.
