Abstract :
Summary form only given. The discovery of Colossal magneto resistance in doped manganese-oxide perovskites has lead to a resurgence of interest in this class of materials. Besides their technological value, they represent a model system to investigate the relation between electron correlation, local structure, long range order and physical properties. Recent measurements of the temperature dependence of the optical conductivity spectrum in La/sub 0.7/Ca/sub 0.3/MnO/sub 3/ and La/sub 0.7/Sr/sub 0.3/MnO/sub 3/ and were found to agree quite well with model calculations in which double exchange-driven hopping is coupled to dynamic Jahn-Teller polaron.
