Abstract
In this paper, we propose an analysis and synthesis method of musical instrument tones by using decimation and interpolation in digital signal processing. The musical instrument tones can be synthesized by extracting the parameter of the harmonic signal. By using decimation and interpolation, musical instrument tones can be resolved into single harmonic signal. We can extract the characteristic parameters of the single harmonic signal by using Hilbert transform. The proposed method is applied to the natural musical instrument, and it is proved to be able to synthesize the same musical instrument tone as the original tone in time domain
