Abstract
This paper proposes the use of an adaptive image enhancement system that implements the human visual system (HVS) properties for contrast enhancement of X-ray images. X-ray images are of poor quality and are usually interpreted visually. The HVS properties considered are its adaptive nature, multichannel mechanism and high nonlinearity. The proposed method is adaptive, nonlinear and multichannel, and combines adaptive filters and homomorphic processing. Results presented illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed method
