Abstract
A geometry model of a diesel engine´s piston is set up in UG. The temperature fields of the piston for burning diesel and DME separately are calculated using ANSYS 10.0. The result shows that the variation of the thermal load by substituting diesel with DME is still within the thermal strength of the material, thus provides supporting evidence for using DME on diesel engines.
