  • Abstract
    A block coded parallel paths trellis coded modulation (BCP-TCM) scheme is proposed, and its performance is analyzed. By encoding the information bits assigned to the parallel paths in conventional TCM, the proposed scheme performs as well as conventional TCM in additive white Gaussian noise and is as robust as multiple TCM in fading. The tradeoff is the small additional bandwidth requirement because of the block code used in the system
