Abstract :
This paper describes the usefulness of artificial intelligence techniques for power system protection applications. The use of expert systems, fuzzy logic and neural networks for specific applications such as fault detection and fault location are identified and discussed. Sample results are presented in the form of case studies. The paper also highlights current research work being undertaken by the authors in the area of intelligent relaying
