Abstract :
The aim of this paper is to present a fault simulation technique that could help engineers to study the consequences of faults in the output filter of a switch mode power supply. To do so, in this paper, it is presented two techniques: a new experimental off-line technique based in the DFT algorithmic, which can determine the equivalent circuit of capacitors at the operating frequency of the converter, and a simulation technique based in Laplace transform, which could predict the behavior of the converter. Simulation and experimental results will be presented in order to prove the applicability of both techniques.
