Abstract
This study aims at improving China´s rural road safety situation and promoting the rural road safety audit since the total length of rural roads takes up an extremely large proportion of the total length of roads and the traffic safety is facing a grim situation in recent years in China. The author of this paper analyses the rural road safety problem in China by consulting large amounts of data. Comparing the rural road safety audit-related studies conducted by scholars in Wyoming, USA with the actual situation in China, the author classifies the rural roads, facilitating road safety audit. The paper also proposes a series of key audit objects that should be concerned during China´s rural road safety audit, such as hardened roads, road intersections.
