  • Abstract
The paper presents the structure of a new component for an industrial software monitoring system designed to integrate intelligent devices (smartphones and tablet PCs) into the list of compatible client devices. The proposed system is composed of two main components: the first one is a web service application that represents the interface between the database of the monitoring system and the client devices and the second one that is a mobile application capable of running on different operating systems (Google Android, Apple iOS, Windows Phone, BlackBerry OS, etc.) that is the interface between the monitoring system and its users. The web service is developed using the Java JAX- WS technology and runs under the GlassFish application server. The mobile device application is developed using the Adobe PhoneGap platform that allows developers to build native mobile applications using HTML5 and JavaScript technologies. The communication between these two applications is made using the SOAP protocol and all the requests of the mobile application are made using the AJAX technology. The security is provided by accessing the web service only using the HTTPS protocol and assigning a unique key to each communication session. This system provides the opportunity to view instant and historical data on intelligent mobile devices.
