Abstract
This paper describes an inductive magnetic sensor for the translation measurement of a metal sheet during the drop-stamping process. This electromagnetic sensor consists in a cast-iron core coil sensor. The coil systems classical approach does not include the eddy current effect in the transducer core. The main particularity of this study is to define the eddy current effect into the cast-iron core by means of an analytical study and to propose an electric model of the sensor. The theoretical study has led to an important improvement of the sensitivity of the sensor which allows amplifier gain minimisation and improves the precision of the measurement. This work has allowed us to do a technical transfer from Le Havre University to the car manufacturer Renault SA
