  • Abstract
Summary form only given as follows. This paper presents the results of studies on a fundamentally new way to address research and development. The integrated approach to research and development is contrasted against the traditional approach to R&D. Reasons why an organization should consider revolutionizing its R&D program are given with the main goals being the reduction of development costs and time as well as increased market endurance for the developed products. The description of a company-wide framework for modern research and development is divided into five categories: complete R&D, process development strategies, a process management approach to product R&D, information management, and target costing
