Abstract :
A high efficiency shaped Cassegrain antenna system with beam waveguide (BWG) feed is developed for inter-satellite links. The required scan coverage of /spl plusmn/180/spl deg/ in azimuth and /spl plusmn/70/spl deg/ in elevation is best achieved by employing a BWG system with minimal loss. The antenna transmits LHCP signals over the 61.94-62.94 GHz and receives the RHCP signals over the 59.9-60.9 GHz. It uses a multi-mode feed for communications (TE/sub 11/ mode) and tracking (TE/sub 21/ mode) signals.<>
