Abstract
Research on the microscopic material properties of recycled asphalt shingles (RAS) with the aggregate imaging system (AIMS) are firstly introduced in the paper. As a rapid, effective analysis tool, the angularity and 2D form for the recycled asphalt shingles can be evaluated with AIMS. The testing illustrated that about one-third elongated, sharp angular aggregates of the roofing shingles are evenly distributed in the sub-angular and semi-elongated particles; the rounded and circular particles have a very lower weights and almost have no effects on the angularity and 2D form analysis.
