Abstract :
A non-ball cutter can greatly improve processing efficiency and improve processing quality for free-form surface CNC machining, but critical issue in using these methods is the production of a gouge and interference free tool path, it is still a difficult problem for CAD/CAM system to treatment automatically. In this paper, a geometry theory model and cut- off equation for toroidal tool, which will be helpful for the NC tool path planning and automatic programming using a toroidal tool, is present.
