  • Abstract
The impulse response of a perfectly conducting sphere has long been a subject of fundamental interest, owing much to its unique properties and technological relevance. Previously published works have covered distant bistatic scattered field under smoothed impulse excitation and distant scattered field in the backward and forward directions under impulse or step excitation. To our knowledge, the bistatic scattered field from a perfectly conducting sphere with impulse excitation has not been given in the literature. We present the results of calculation of the proximity and distant scattered fields of an impulse excited perfectly conducting sphere in various bistatic directions. When a conducting sphere of radius a is centered at the origin and impinged by an impulsive plane wave, some representative impulse responses of the scattered field in the E-plane are shown.
