Abstract
A discussion of alternative methods for estimating the number of motor units in nerve/muscle systems is presented. These alternative methods are aimed at reducing the sampling based error associated with current estimation methods. Of the methods discussed, two in particular have some promise-one based on the analysis of the force responses and one based on “far-field” recording
