  • Abstract
    A new material selection approach based on PROMETHEE method is proposed in this paper. Compared with ELECTRE method, this PROMETHEE can utilize more candidate information, thus making the selection result more reasonable. The approach is further illustrated and validated by two material selection cases. And Spearman´s rank correlation coefficient is used to describe the correlation coefficients between material selection results obtained by PROMETHEE and that by other methods. This paper provides further evidence for the assertion that MCDM theory has the potential to improve material selection method.
