Abstract
A method for estimating the location of periodic orbits in chaotic systems is presented. The result is significant in that periodic orbits of systems with unknown dynamics are required as targets in the control of chaos. Supporting theoretical evidence is provided for certain complex recurrent systems. The paper is concluded with some simulation examples
