Abstract :
Temperature field of resistance spot welding with rectangular electrode was obtained from numerical simulation. Experiments were carried out to verify the precision of simulation. The results of simulation show that at the beginning of the welding stage, the temperature at edge of electrodes was highest, then the position with highest temperature shifted to the center and the nugget began to form. The results of experiments show that ellipse welding spot can be obtained under appropriate welding conditions.
