Abstract
In this paper, an improved Unequal Error Protection (UEP) scheme based on importance of the MacroBlock (MB) is proposed. At first, the importance level matrix of the MB is established to present the movement of the object. Then based on a variation of H.264/AVC dispersed FMO mode, the MBs with the same importance level are assigned to a Slice Group (SG) with k-means clustering algorithm. At last, the improved UEP scheme is proposed to provide different SGs with different degrees of protection. Compared to the competing approaches, the simulation results indicate that a significant performance improvement can be achieved under various packet loss probabilities. In addition, the complexity is reduced.
