Abstract
A description is given of the PacTel microcell system, which was designed to be easily integrated into the existing macrocell system architecture, provide capacity relief, lessen the overhead message burden, and provide coverage where needed. The Los Angeles test results show that C /I ratios of better than 20 dB are realized using the PacTel microcell system. K =3 patterns are, therefore, possible. A two to two-and-one-half increase in channel capacity can be obtained. The system is easily deployable for coverage and capacity and is cost-effective
