Abstract
This paper proposes a mathematical formulation of protein secondary structures and gene mutation in Molecular Biology. The goal is to mathematically represent and interpret the secondary structure of the protein macro molecular and how the gene mutation happens. Group theory is used to interpret concepts and properties of protein synthesis, protein secondary structures, and gene mutation. Propositions based on the formulations are presented. It is our hope that this work could lay a mathematical foundation for introducing system and control theories into molecular biology.
