  • Abstract
The elimination, reduction, and management of hazardous materials over the entire life cycle of a military system is becoming of increasing concern and importance to both the system producer and the end user. Responding to this concern, and continuing on an improvement journey, Texas Instruments´ Defense Systems and Electronics Group has conceived and deployed a systematic and proactive approach to product and process environmental stewardship. This approach focuses on the prevention or minimization of potential environmental concerns before they can become a problem through the application of “source reduction” principles during product and process design. This technique is more effective than trying to manage or control undesirable environmental effects downstream during production, use, or disposition
