Implementation and deployment of a design for environment (DFE) initiative for military electronics at Texas Instruments´ Defense Systems and Electronics Group

The elimination, reduction, and management of hazardous materials over the entire life cycle of a military system is becoming of increasing concern and importance to both the system producer and the end user. Responding to this concern, and continuing on an improvement journey, Texas Instruments´ Defense Systems and Electronics Group has conceived and deployed a systematic and proactive approach to product and process environmental stewardship. This approach focuses on the prevention or minimization of potential environmental concerns before they can become a problem through the application of “source reduction” principles during product and process design.
