Abstract
Quantitative evaluation of total energy consumption of several muscles in a whole day and type of movements during daily life is useful in determining an appropriate amount of training (rehabilitation exercise). For the preparation of proposing a new index which is relating to muscle power and the information of the posture of lower limb, this study is, focusing on the lower limb, aiming to measure muscle power using EMG signals from the hamstrings and the rectus femoris muscle and detect the posture of the lower limb. This paper reports the development of a portable data logger the measurement of the posture of lower limb and EMG signals from the hamstrings and the rectus femoris muscle. A developed portable data logger is used for measuring EMG and acceleration. The muscle power during a level walking on a treadmill is calculated using EMG signals. The posture of the lower limb is classified by the inclination angles of upper and lower leg detected by the acceleration sensors
