Title :
Effects of electricity market liberalisation on management organisation skills
Author_Institution :
Aem Elettricita SpA, Italy
Abstract :
The process of liberalisation of Italy´s energy market has required a re-organisation of AEM´s structure (process and competencies to the different levels of the structure). The choice to privilege the re-organisation, with the precise awareness that the ability to answer to the challenges of a liberalising market, was a key factor of competitive success. We have decided to revise the commercial process in full. We have decided to integrate our culture, predominantly based on technical competence, on safety and on good service with a customer-focused culture developing an ability (not required before) to accept the challenges and grasp the opportunities of an evolving market. Moreover the project, predominantly organisational in nature, has made it possible to create the conditions to favour the growth of internal resources (e.g. defining with greater clearness, roles and responsibility for a single line of business)
