Abstract :
In the present paper for the first time a rigorous analytical theory is given which allows ionization efficiency coefficients and related quantities in a dielectric liquid to be calculated over an extremely wide range of reduced electric fields (several orders of magnitude). It is based upon analytical solution of the kinetic Boltzmann equation written for free electrons in a dense medium. Thermodynamic state of the liquid is allowed to be arbitrary. Using the obtained ionization efficiency coefficients, behaviour of breakdown curves in liquid dielectrics as a function of the product of liquid density by interelectrode distance is examined
