Abstract
Based on system-in-package (SiP) technologies that fuse a micromachined optical Doppler blood-flow sensor chip and integrated electronic circuit (IC) chips, very small wireless blood-flow sensors to be attached to birds have been fabricated. Because micromachined blood-flow sensors (MEMS sensors) are very compact and stable, and in addition the SiP design does not jeopardize the form factor and characteristics of the MEMS sensors, they are effective for wireless monitoring of blood flow when attached to the breast of the chicken. Blood flow is an important factor, in addition to body temperature and behavior, for monitoring seriously infected chickens.
