Abstract
One asymmetric porphyrin 2-(1-acetyl-2-oxopropyl)-5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin and its Cu2+, Zn2+ complexes for dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSCs) are synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Dye-sensitized solar cells are fabricated with these porphyrins as dyes and the results show low energy conversion efficiency, which can be attributed to the steric hinderance of neighboring phenyl groups for anchoring group (1-acetyl-2-oxopropyl group) to nanocrystalline TiO2 particles.
