Abstract :
The effect of imidazolium in electrolytes on photovoltaic performance of dye-sensitized solar cells was investigated. Electrolytes were mixed with lithium iodide, iodine, tert-butyl-pyridine, and imidazolium derivatives in acetronitrile. The effect of anion on imidazolium derivatives was also studied. It is found that imidazolium iodide improves short-circuit density of the cell whereas the open-circuit voltage is not significantly increased. Nonetheless, the imidazolium bromide can increase the open-circuit voltage.
