  • Abstract
    This work presents a detail spectral analysis and the experimental results of the topology to solve the distortion due to pulse dropping. Owing to the non-ideal switching characteristics of the components, pulse dropping occurs since the devices cannot produce a very narrow pulse at the output of a PWM inverter. This causes spectral distortion and is especially unacceptable for digital audio amplifier application. A topology called transient dynamic boost has been developed to solve this problem. By introducing a compensation signal when the amplitude of the modulating signal reaches a critical level, the output signal remain undistorted with an appropriate DC link voltage is applied. Both the theoretical analysis and experimental results have verified the validity of the new technique.
