Abstract
A novel transmitter that supports wide range data rates up to 8Gb/ps is introduced in this paper. A reconfigurable bitslice CML based driver offers the programmable swing and de-emphasis levels that are suitable for Gbps series data links such as Gen1 and Gen2 PCI-Express and SATA circuits. The chip is fabricated in a 45nm CMOS technology that occupies an area of 150um×50um with measured power dissipation of 38 mW at 5Gbps data rate.
