Abstract
This paper presents the design and numerical simulation of a new kind of rotary engine called Leaf Spring Rotary Engine. The overall dimension of prototype engine is 70mm × 50mm × 20mm and the displacement is 1.77cm3. According to the characteristics of the leaf spring rotary engine, the thermodynamic models were presented. The performance parameters were calculated under the ideal condition. It showed that the indicative power was 170W and the thermal efficiency was 44.2% at the speed of 3000r/min. At the same time, the effect of ignition position to the performance of the engine was analyzed. The thermodynamic model can be used to instruct the design and machining of the engine.
