Abstract
An investigation of the dynamic contact characteristics of NO (normally open) and NC (normally closed) relay contacts is presented. The contact voltage V/sub c/=f(t) versus the contact resistance during the contact closing process is employed. After the relay contacts impact, they do not reach the stable make position at once, but undergo two processes, i.e., contact bounce and contact resistance transition. The influence of the wear state of the contact surface on the dynamic contact characteristics is discussed.<>
