Abstract :
The algorithms of Yilmaz, Jin, and Michielssen, and Yilmaz, Shanker, Jin, and Michielssen (2003) are combined and a parallel TD-AIM algorithm is used to efficiently solve the resulting hybrid volume-surface integral equation (VSIE). The proposed algorithm reduces the computational cost of solving the VSIE. We note that, recently, the plane-wave time-domain algorithm too has been used to accelerate the VSIE-based analysis of microstrip structures. While both algorithms have similar reduced asymptotic computational complexities when solving the VSIE, the TD-AIM scheme is expected to be more efficient when treating truly volumetric structures. Indeed, unlike the case of the analysis of surface scattering phenomena, the auxiliary nodes introduced by the TD-AIM do not artificially inflate the number of field variables to be kept track of.
