Abstract
This paper illustrates a way in which practitioners can be supported in the process of engaging with theory in order to underpin practical applications in the use of information and communication technologies (ICT). This approach involves the use of decision-making resources (´toolkits´); three examples are described. The ways in which this embeds specific theoretical assumptions are discussed, and a model for toolkit specification, design and evaluation is described
