Abstract :
This paper introduces a new technique for numerical observability analysis based on orthogonal Givens rotations with three multipliers. The proposed method determines whether a given power network is observable and, if that is not the case, it identifies the observable islands. Results obtained for two IEEE test systems are used to validate the proposed orthogonal approach for observability analysis and detection of observable islands.
