Abstract :
Adaptive schemes, consisting of a channel gain prediction algorithm and a feedback channel, have been proposed as an alternative to conventional diversity techniques to decrease the error rates in fading channels. In this paper, we analyze the feasibility of using adaptive schemes in LEO satellite systems. Although limited to quasi-static users and nearby reflectors, the proposed adaptive scheme, which operates in two modes (transmit/don´t transmit), achieves significant error rate reductions regarding conventional constant data rate transmissions
