Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a new fast block motion estimation algorithm based on pixels of a block subsampling and candidates in a search area subsampling. We first define the error surface of the block matching and give its characteristics, pointing that the matching error between adjacent search candidates is similar, so we can subsample search candidates. Combined with alternating subsampling pixels, a fast effective block motion estimation algorithm is proposed, which has better performance than the famous TSS algorithm, whereas our algorithm provides higher speed-up ratio. Experimental results are given to show that the proposed algorithm is very effective
