Abstract
Numerical fluid simulation based on the voxel mesh method was applied to the whole structure of 3.5-inch hard disk drives, and the results were compared with the experimental results obtained by a PIV (Particle Image Velocimetry) system. The results demonstrated that the velocity distributions agree well, and that this method is useful for modeling a complicated geometry such as that of hard disk drives.
