Abstract :
This paper presents a unified relay protection system modeling method both for simulation and settings calculation of hydropower plant protection systems. In this method, the coordination of protection systems is described by the coordination matrix which is corresponding to the state of hydropower plant operation conditions and the topology of the electrical network. Based on coordination matrix, the settings calculation results can be directly passed to the setting variables of the simulation models of relay protection systems. Thus, the settings calculation models and the function simulation models of protection systems are developed to have unified models. By doing this, the developed models are versatile for different operation conditions of hydropower plant and different topologies of the electrical network through modifying the coordination matrix. And finally, an example is given to show the effectiveness of this method.
