Abstract
A new concept `propagator´ for array signal processing is recently introduced, the properties of which have been proven useful for DO A (Direction of Arrival) estimation. This attractive concept is the propagator which can easily be extracted from the cross spectral matrix of the received signals for DOA estimation without Eigen-decomposition. But supplying propagator for DOA estimation has to know the number of sources received by array, which limits the application of propagator in Radar, Sonar and passive detection system. Based on multivariate analysis method, a joint estimation of the number of sources and DOA by propagator method (PM) is presented. It shows that the performance of proposed method with less complexity, effectiveness and high resolution.
