Abstract :
Delay based congestion control algorithms have been shown to outperform their loss based counterparts, especially when used over wireless links. However, high latency wireless links such as those provided by geostationary satellite, still pose a number of performance problems for delay based congestion control. In this paper we analyse existing congestion control algorithms for both loss and delay based TCP variants, before presenting an optimised delay based congestion control model. Furthermore, we show that it is easier to model and optimise delay based congestion control, than a loss based system
