Abstract :
Shorted compensating windings or non-uniform conductive shield can be used in a selectively passive compulsator to compensate the field produced by the armature winding, thus to reduce the impedance and increase the amplitude of the output current. The compensating effect on the inductance of the armature winding changes while the rotor rotates, so it is possible for selective compensation to output a flat top current pulse. A finite element analytical model is proposed in this paper. The electromotive force is firstly calculated. The losses in the rotor core and the eddy current induced in the compensating are analyzed under different frequencies. A flat top current pulse is provided in the armature winding to analyze the transient characteristics including inductance, eddy current and loss.
