Abstract
In this paper, a new clamping circuit, to reduce the peak voltage across the switching devices of voltage-type resonant DC link inverters (VTRDCLI) is first proposed. The proposed clamping circuit does not need a precharged clamping electrolytic capacitor nor a complicated controller. By using the duality theory, another new clamping circuit which is useful to reduce the peak current through the switching devices of current-type resonant DC link inverters (CTRDCLI) is derived from the first one. The validity of the proposed clamping circuits is verified by the experimental results.
