Abstract :
A PWM (pulsewidth-modulated) current-source GTO (gate-turn-off) inverter with a PWM thyristor rectifier for induction-motor drives has been developed and analyzed. Requirements for PWM control of the rectifier and conditions for satisfying the requirements to the energy rebound circuit have been investigated by experimental and theoretical methods. Applying several PWM control patterns to the thyristor rectifier and GTO inverter sections of this inverter system driving a 5.5 kW induction motor, predicted results have been verified experimentally.<>
