  • Abstract
Corrosion on grounding rod can significantly increase the grounding resistance and compromise the safety of the power system. Applying a layer of conductive coating on the grounding conductor is an effective way of slowing down the corrosion. In this paper, a conductive RTV silicone coating was introduced, and the proper volume resistance of the coating was calculated and proved that the grounding resistance will not rise after the conductor being applied with this coating. Conductive fillers such as carbon fiber and silver covered glass ball and nano-particles such as carbon black are used and compared.
