  • Abstract
    We propose and realized the photonic crystal surface emitting and edge emitting microlasers based on a InGaAsP/lnP quantum well freestanding slab. We employ a deformed lattice structure to manipulate the electromagnetic field distribution. The lasing near field pattern shows the dipole mode field distribution changed clearly and the lasing action with single mode, y-mode, is obtained in the elongated point defect cavity. By optimizing the laser-waveguide coupled structure, the edge emitting photonic crystal microlaser shows remarkable enhancement output. A practical high efficiency is obtained in this type of microlaser.
