Abstract :
We have demonstrated a short-pulsed optical fiber MOPA source, which generates 12 W, >1 ns pulses at a wavelength of 1550 nm. The repetition rate of the pulses can be adjusted continuously from 10 Hz to 70MHz. The source is tested in a 2.4 km distributed fiber Raman temperature sensing system, achieved a temperature resolution of plusmn5K. By using wavelet transformation, the temperature resolution is improved to plusmn1K.
